Altar Servers
This is an excellent opportunity for our youth to accept the invitation from Christ which they received at Baptism. We are all called to be Priest, Prophet, and King. Through the Altar Server Ministry, our youth fulfill this calling: by praying, by living their lives as proclaimed in the Gospel, and by recognizing that they are a sister or brother to Jesus.
Eligibility
Altar Servers must have received the following sacraments: Baptism, Reconciliation, and Holy Communion. They maybe begin this ministry upon starting the 4th grade. There is a training session and the new altar sever will be paired with an experienced altar server.
If you would like to volunteer for this important ministry, please contact Deacon Mike Truman 410 398-0009.
___________________________________________________________________________
The altar server occupies a privileged place in the liturgical celebration. The altar server presents himself to a community and experiences firsthand that Jesus Christ is present and active in every liturgical act. Jesus is present when the community comes together to pray and render praise to God. Jesus is present in the Word of sacred Scripture. Jesus is present above all in the Eucharist under the signs of bread and wine. He acts through the priest who, in the person of Christ, celebrates the Holy Mass and ministers the sacraments.
Therefore, in liturgy, you are much more than simple “helpers of the parish priest.” Above all, you are servers of Jesus Christ, of the eternal high Priest. (Blessed Pope John Paul II)

Altar Server Prayer
Altar Server Prayer
Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank you for
Calling me to
Serve you at
Your Holy Altar
During the celebration of the Eucharist.
I know that the priest takes Your place
When, together with Your people and
In the name of the Church, he makes present
Again Your Passion, Death, and Resurrection.
Help me to carry
Out my role with
Prayerful dignity
And participation
In this memorial
of the Last Super.
Let me remain close
To you on earth that
One ay I may share
In your glory. Amen
